€ 18,000 donation to the battle against mucoviscidosis

“Those who are healthy should help those who aren’t,” Michael Kosch believes. And he does that. With the Kick for Kids foundation, he was able to kick in € 18,000 this year to help those affected by mucoviscidosis and support its research. The legends from Borussia Mönchengladbach and an all-star team of grand Austrian players engaged in a match at the Linz AG Arena in Kleinmünchen.

Coached by Toni Polster and Michael Konsel, the all-stars – including Ailton, Ivan Klasnic, Andi Herzog, Christian Mayrleb, Herwig Drechsel, Pepi Schicklgruber, Herwig Drechsel, Markus Weißenberger, Reinfried Herbst, Christian Mayer – won 7:5. But it was clear that the legends from the Borussia Mönchengladbach team, such as Martin Stranzl and Kalle Pflipsen, still had a fun time. Even if the occasion for this charity match was very serious: The proceeds are donated to ATMOS, which in turn means that 50% will go to immediate assistance for mucoviscidosis patients and 50% to mucoviscidosis research.

Before the start, Mister Austria Philipp Rafetseder and Laura Wiesinger performed the song “Das geht uns unter die Haut” (“This gets beneath our skin”).

Twelve years ago, Michael Kosch and Walter Fleischhacker organized the first Benefit Kick for children with mucoviscidosis. Following their great success, they founded the Kick for Kids association in 2008 with Andreas Gass. Michael Kosch summarizes why ATMOS is supported this year: “Those who are healthy should help those who aren’t. At our association ‘Kick for Kids,” we support the ATMOS project with all our energy! When you are diagnosed with mucoviscidosis, countless things start crashing in on your family. Life changes completely from this day forward. Medical devices must be bought, therapeutic measures must be planned, you have to learn how to personally deal with the illness, etc., etc…. This is where we start, helping with smaller and larger investments and providing some bright spots, but at the end of the day we only mitigate the symptoms. That is why I’m excited by the idea of ATMOS, which combines short-term and long-term measures in a project that has never existed before. And these kinds of projects are extraordinary and deserve the highest respect!”
